Eviction, is a very legal procedure a property-owner can use to get rid of a renter from a house, apartment, or room. This procedure is also popularly known as summary process. Eviction is also known in many other names like unlawful detainer, forcible detainer and repossession. Other terms exist but these are the most popularly used terms. To be simple and straight, eviction is way of communication between a person owning a land and tenant or a renter.

Basing on the law in the jurisdiction, for a landlord to get rid of a tenant and win a law suite, the process or procedure to be followed depends. So, laws in different states are different with respect to eviction. Though procedures are different most of the part is common. A Notice of quit should be sent by the landlord to the tenant first. This copy is attached to Form A which has the signatures of landlord and his attorney. This should be delivered by a state Marshal. This notice simply states that the tenant should leave the place or land by a date specified and a reason why he/ she should leave.

As soon as the notice is received the tenant should contact of a lawyer and take his assistance. If this notice is not a court order , the tenant need to not leave the apartment by the specified date. If the landlord is not satisfied , he would start the court action by submitting against you a Complaint. A copy of this is affixed to Form B. The complaint forms are typically two or three pages of sheets, completely attested by the landlord’s legal representative. The foremost sheet, the order, is an authorized court form. This explains the deed in opposition to you and what should be done to defend your rights. In the upper right hand corner of the his sheet, is a box noticeable stating the date of return. You will not need to have to go to court of law on that date, but you or your legal representative should file a paper called an APPEARANCE from within the court in only two days after the return date. One copy of this appearance form is to be attached to Form C. You should get the appearance form stated above from the clerk’s office and ask the clerk for clear directions on how to fill it the form.

Malware is one of form of malicious programs which harm computers. Malware is simply a software having malicious code. The computer on which malware is installed is called the victim and the creator of this malware is called the attacker. Once installed on victim’s computer the attacker gains access to the victim’s computer without the knowledge of victim. This is nothing but illegal access to victims computer. So the attacker can do anything on victim’s computer like removing files, obtaining personal information, and some cases destroying the system.

It includes cookies which track the information about the user of the computer. These programs are downloaded by the victim unknowingly just by visiting a malware affected web site or by downloading a malware effected file from the internet. The attacker can be the victim’s friend, relative or a stranger to him. These programs can collect personal information from the user in various ways depending on the system configuration of the victim’s computer.

Once installed, these programs can also download additional software with additional functions to harm the computer of the victim. And thus with the additional functions the attacker can gain full access to the victim’s computer. He can erase discs, modify, or delete files, or even can gain access to his online accounts. Malware can be also thought as differently where it installs cookies, which track the personal browsing habits and interests of the victim and thus this information Is used by software companies to make revenue by selling products of his choice. Here privacy of the victim is ceased for making profits.

Malware is intended to gain control over the victim’s computer system and so can be used to send spam or perform other actions without the victim’s knowledge or permission. Contagious malware or infectious malware is the most dangerous of all other malwares or spywares because it can source can even cause grave damage to the victim’s computer system by monopolizing very important computer resources.

Any software or program that can screen, gather personal information or cause damage to any computer can be stated as malware. Anti virus with heuristic scanning techniques built into its scanning system is required to face malware and other spywares. Updating the anti virus with heuristic scanner regularly would definitely prevent auto execution of malwares to a large extinct on your computer. Along with this, a basic know of how your computer works would help you to defend your system from malwares.

Can you imagine a fiber with size less than one denier? Micro fiber is such material and its size is less than 1 denier. Micro fiber showed a way to the world about how to take a product that seems of no use and just turn it into a useful product. The era of synthetic fibers started in medieval 20th century when the need for fibers was abundant. A turn around took place when the worthless oil was refined and synthetic fibers were made. Now, this along with synthetic fibers yielded a material which was named polypropylene. This was processed to make olefin fibers.

After continues experiments with polypropylene surprisingly, a fiber was developed which was much less that 1 denier. This was later named as micro fiber. This exceptionally thin material amazingly was flexible and it Is proven that it can be used for a large number of textile industries than the then famous olefin fibers. Since then, microfibers are used for many various types of clothing materials. Micro fibers are mostly made of polyesters but they are some times a composition of nylon and other polymers.

Micro fiber in the recent years have become tremendously famous for their apparel and proved to be as an alternate apparel to cotton apparel, and the main reason is that, material of micro fiber keeps moisture away from the body and so keeps the body dry. Micro fibers are also widely used for the federal agency programs in the United States. Micro fiber is used to make smooth clothing, jackets and shirts which are very smooth to touch.

Microfiber is used for cleaning products to a large extent which include cleaning products for table clothes, wardrobes, and other textiles. They are used widely because they are extremely soft and consistently retain their shape. Micro fibers are also used for car cleaning purposes like cleaning car glasses, cleaning interiors and drying etc. Cleaning Tools based on Micro fibers are widely popular as they absorb grease and give the products a high attraction capacity.

Micro fibers are also used to clean professional photographic lens because of their absorption power. They are used for cleaning Nikon, Canon, and all other lenses. Computer screen can be effectively cleaned by micro fiber cleaning tools. But micro fibers can not be used to clean dust particles as they absorb the abrasive particles and so can spoil them.

Applications have a rating applied to it. Green (4+) apps contain no objectionable material. Yellow (9+) apps might have fantasy, cartoon or realistic violence and suggestive humor. Orange (12+) apps may have mild language, violence, suggestive themes and simulated gambling scenarios. Red (17+) applications contain intense humor, horror, suggestive themes, sexual acts, nudity, tobacco, alcohol and drugs. Consumers need to verify they are of 17 years of age before being able to purchase the higher rating apps.

To date, one of the most popular apps on the market is the Slacker Radio. The application boasts that it holds more music than Pandora and offers Premium accounts. The app offers unlimited song skips, as well.

Hey, Where Are You is another popular application. It is a simple app that allows the user to take advantage of the Push Notification and let the user answer and ask “Hey, where are you?”

Probably the best application for massive texting is TextFree Unlimited. It is the first app that offers text messaging using Push Notification. It helps lower SMS (Short Message Service) costs.

For Twitter goers, TweetDeck is a useful app. Favored by most tweeters, this application possesses the same layout as the desktop counterpart with multiple columns and separation of user groups.

The Flight Tracker application proves useful for individuals who travel often. For businessmen/women, the app allows the user to view flights in real-time and receive up to the minute departure and arrival times.

Best buddies will feel grateful for the Birthday Reminder application. This app downloads information off pages like Facebook to the iPhone/iPod to easily remind people of upcoming birthdays.

For on-the-go readers, the Kindle app will help greatly. The application is basically the Kindle itself, just on the iPhone/iPod. The eBook reader is kind to the eyes and provides quick entertainment. There is plenty of variety offered for cheap prices.

People know how it can be boring to sit around when you really want to play a game. Therefore, iPhone/iPod owners are able to download the Assassin’s Creed application. The game runs rather smoothly and entertains very well.

The definition of franchising is “the practice of using another person’s business model”. Basically, an entrepreneur (franchisor) has the right to distribute techniques, products and trademarks with the agreement that they will give a percentage of their gross monthly sales along with a royalty fee. The percentage of profit goes to the owner of the business. Agreements can last anywhere between five and thirty years and can be cancelled at any time.

As of 2009, there are ten franchises that have become the most famous and profitable. These businesses are: Subway, McDonald’s, Liberty Tax Service, Sonic, InterContinental Hotels, Ace Hardware, Pizza Hut, UPS, Circle K and Papa John’s.

Subway, the highest ranking franchise so far, has had its profits increasing dramatically since 2005. Franchises keep increasing and they’re still looking for good locations. Subway wants to place franchises in all fifty states. They are also looking for worldwide locations. Subway supports organizations such as the American Cancer Society, Habitat for Humanity, Girl Scouts of America and the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship.

The third highest ranking franchise, Liberty Tax Service, has been offering its services since 1997. The company originated in Canada and, from there, John Hewitt took over and brought it to America. Liberty Tax Service currently desires franchises in all fifty states. They would also like businesses in New Zealand, Australia and Canada. As of 2005, they offer tax free service for volunteers who help young individuals.

The advantages of owning a franchise are numerous. Franchising is the only way to get venture investment capital without giving up control of the operation. Franchisors can expand their business any place possible. Franchising is also a way to feel independent and have the right to say you own your own business. Franchisors can employ residents and earn even more money.

Franchising has disadvantages, such as a limited pool of viable franchises. Cities or towns may only have a limited amount of prospects. Also, while franchisors have good control over the business, they don’t have complete control. Even though one individual may have started the franchise, they can be replaced if they prove incompetent. There are a few other disadvantages that come along with owning a franchise but vary for every situation.

When becoming a franchisor, be sure to watch markets carefully and choose wisely. It may be fun and exciting to start a business with McDonald’s but, if not watched closely, the entire plan could go under.

A radiator is the component of a car that is used to transfer energy from one place to the next. The exchange of energy cools and heats the vehicle as necessary. Radiators not only work in cars; they are installed in buildings and electronics, too. The radiator is always the source of heat. However, while it is used for heating, it can be used for cooling, as in vehicles.

In buildings, radiators are part of the central heating system. Hot water and steam are often generated in the main boiler and circulate through the building via pumps. Radiators are available in two kinds: single-pipe and double-pipe. Single-pipes work mainly with steam. Double-pipes work with hot water and/or steam. Double-pipe radiators are often preferred by consumers as they perform more functions.

In vehicles, radiators have the primary purpose of keeping the car, etc at a safe temperature. Internal combustion engines, which are contained in both cars and piston-engine aircraft, need to be cooled. The engines can also be used in railway locomotives, generating plants and motorcycles. The process begins with a liquid coolant going through the engine block. From there, the liquid is heated and continues to the radiator where the heat is lost to the atmosphere. Coolants are normally water-based but are available with oil. Coolants can be circulated with the use of a pump or fans.

As electronic devices continually become smaller, the dispersing of heat becomes more difficult. Radiators, often referred to as heat sinks, are installed so excess heat will be circulated into a cooling air stream. Electromagnetic radiator elements and electric radiators should not be confused with heat sinks.

Over time, radiators accumulate gunk and important passages become blocked. When this happens, vehicle owners need to go to their preferred auto shop and get a radiator flush. Flushes may take up to a couple hours because mechanics need the liquid to cool before transferring it to a safe container. A radiator flush may prove to be expensive, depending on what needs to be done. The drain plug of the radiator is opened once the liquids are good temperature. The liquid drains out and the plug is put back in place. Afterwards, the radiator cap is opened and new coolant is poured in. When all liquids are topped-off and secured, the mechanic will turn on the car to heat the liquid to normal temperature. The heating system will be turned on, as well, to circulate the fluid completely.

The fluids are then drained once more. The radiator will be filled with half coolant and half water. Afterwards, the radiator flush is complete and the car is ready to go.

The majority of cell phones are designed with SIM (Subscriber Identification Module) cards. These cards are microchips that hold subscriber data. The card provides cell phone service by activating the phone in which it is inserted. Locked phones will only recognize SIM cards provided by the carrier. On the other hand, unlocked cell phones will work with SIM cards from any carrier. Locked cell phones are used to keep customers loyal to one particular company.

Cell phones can be unlocked by entering special codes. The process, once completed, is usually permanent. Certain companies have begun to offer unlocking codes and processes. Normally, an individual will unlock their phone with their IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number. The company who received the information will process it and e-mail an unlocking code with instructions. Once the users inputs the code, the phone is unlocked. Users who wish to unlock their phone must be careful because there are several fake random number distributors. Unlocking can also occur by the user sending their phone to the vendor for physical unlocking.

iPhones can be unlocked, as well. Apple iPhones are locked or unlocked when the device is activated. During activation, the SIM is locked or cleared depending on the information within the IMEI.

In the United States, T-Mobile will unlock a cell phone if the user has an active account and good standing within the last 90 days. The phone may also be unlocked by T-Mobile if the user pays full retail price and provide proof of purchase. AT&T Wireless will normally unlock a cell phone after 90 days or once a user has concluded their contract. Carriers are not obligated to unlock cell phones by law or any regulations. The companies can refuse to unlock a cell phone. AT&T, for instance, will not unlock iPhones at all, even after a contract has expired.

Since they are not attached to one company, unlocked cell phones are able to be used worldwide. Therefore, for world travelers, unlocked phones prove to be quite useful. The user can remove a SIM card from one carrier and replace it with the next.

For cell phones to work outside of the United States, they need the proper amount of bandwidth. Phones, such as Tri-Band, have been documented to work efficiently out of the country. Tri-Band offers 800, 900 and 1900BW for maximum use and advantages. Conducting research and determining the best carrier is the only way to get good service.

The open source operating system Google Chrome OS is designed to handle web applications. Debuting in July 2009, the program is supposed to have a stable release in the beginning of 2010. Google Chrome OS is based on Linux and only operates on special software. The system resembles the Chrome web browser. Google Chrome OS is designed for individuals who spend the majority of their computer time on the internet.

The goal of the user interface is to create minimal screen space. This will be accomplished by grouping applications and standard Web pages to one tab strip. Developers are thinking about a reduced window management scheme, which will operate on full-screen mode. Floating “panels” are another idea the creators are working on. The panels will attach to the bottom of the screen. Split screens are also taken into consideration. This will make it easier to view two documents or pages side by side.

Google Chrome OS (Operating System) is designed for devices like netbooks, not a primary personal computer (PC). This program will support hard disk drives and Google has requested hardware partners to use solid state drives for higher reliability and performance. Compared to Windows 7, Google Chrome OS uses one-sixtieth of space. Acer, Adobe, Hewlett-Packard, Qualcomm, Lenovo, Intel, Texas Instruments and Freescale are companies working to develop hardware for the system.

Ever since Google introduced their Chrome browser in September 2008, people have been watching the battle between Microsoft and Google. However, research of December 2009 states that Microsoft rules the usage share of desktop operating systems. They also dominate word processing and spreadsheet application markets. PC World, however, has said the Google Chrome OS may very well be the next biggest thing against Microsoft.

The main aspects of Google Chrome OS are to provide simplicity, security and speed to its users. This will help the web browsers boot up faster and users will be able to travel through the internet quickly. Google Chrome OS is able to function on x86 as well as ARM chips. This system will be available to people who have Windows, Mac and Linux.

Google is focused on providing their users will better and faster computers. They want their customers to have quick moving e-mail and web browsers that will start up without delay. Google wishes to provide their customers with great support and keep their computers running as if they were just purchased.

“Soft water” is a term that describes water that has few or no magnesium and calcium deposits. Igneous rock, like granite, and/or peat sources usually help produce soft water. Sedimentary rocks are another source. These items are normally low in calcium and magnesium. Softened water, via the use of ion exchange, usually has more sodium ions than natural water.

Reverse osmosis treated water is considered “soft” because the majority of salt are removed. However, the water will usually have hardness correction or need to be blended with hard water before being used in reticulation systems. Soft water is void of substances that produce scum and scale.

Hard Water

Opposite of soft water, hard water contains high mineral content. The minerals are usually calcium, magnesium, metal cations and, not very often, bicarbonates and sulfates. Minerals can get into the water via limestone, chalk, and others.

The simplest way to determine if water is “hard” is to conduct a lather or froth test. Get some toothpaste and/or soap and agitate it with the water. If the water is hard, the toothpaste and soap won’t lather.

Even though hardness is mostly determined by the amount of calcium and magnesium, iron, aluminum and manganese can also be determining factors.

There are two types of hardness: temporary and permanent.

Temporary hardness is a combination of bicarbonate ions and calcium ions in the water. The hardness can be removed with the use of boiling or by adding lime. Permanent hardness is not able to be removed by boiling. The hardness is usually caused by calcium and magnesium sulfates and chlorides in the water. While permanent hardness can’t be fixed by boiling, it can be removed with the use of a water softener or ion exchange column.

Scaling, which is remaining mineral deposits, is caused by hard water. After water has evaporated, limescale is left behind. Limescale can cause pipe clogs, destroy water heaters, damage toilets and stick to the insides of coffee and tea pots. Showering with hard water can leave hair rougher and more difficult to handle. Since hard water doesn’t lather well with soap, a person may have a cleaner feeling after showering.

Boilers, cooling towers and other various pieces of water equipment are constantly being used to monitor water hardness in industrial settings. To control hardness, chemicals and large-scale softening with zeolite and ion exchange resins are adding to the water.

Since its debut in November 2001, the Xbox has boomed. Since 2005, Microsoft has made a continuing edition of the Xbox: the Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 has become very popular because of its amazing storage, audio and video capabilities. Since the console has become so popular, people have resorted to “modding” the device.

Modding is a slang term for “modify”. Many users mod their Xbox in order to make it last longer and run better. With its 90-day warranty, users feel as if they need to take extra means of modifying their Xbox 360. However, modding an Xbox will cancel the warranty. Also, modifying an Xbox will prevent the user from connecting to Xbox Live. The reason is because the user violated Xbox Lives’ Terms of Use.

There are four methods of modifying an Xbox. The first technique is the modchip. Installing this item will bypass the original BIOS. A hacked BIOS is used to circumvent the security mechanisms. The second method is TSOP (Thin Small-Outline Packages) flashing. Flashing is usually completed using a uniquely crafted gamesave to flash the onboard TSOP. However, the TSOP can be de-soldered and re-written as an EEPROM programmer.

Softmods are another way to modify an Xbox. The user installs additional software files to the hard drive. This exploits programming errors in the Dashboard in order to gain control. It also overwrites the in-memory copy of the BIOS. This technique is considered safe for Xbox Live if the installer uses multi-booting with the Microsoft dashboard. An original game disc must also be used.

The last most common method is hot swapping. This technique uses a computer in order to change the data on the hard drive. Xbox must unlock the hard drive when turned on. From there, the powered hard drive is put onto a running computer. Using Linux-based Live CD’s, data can be read on the hard drive and altered or deleted as desired. Automated scripts will automatically install softmods directly to the Xbox hard drive in most cases. Hot swapping has been known to b used for cheating on online games. The warranty of the Xbox will be void because the user needs to dismantle the device in order to perform hot swapping.

The advantage of modding an Xbox is that the user can play backup games. They can also be downloaded from BitTorrent or other online torrents. The games are usually cheaper, too. If modding an Xbox, users suggest using only VERBATIM CD’s.

Omega 3 is considered an unsaturated fatty acid. Unsaturated fats are good and saturated fats are considered not-so-good for the body. Omega 3 can be found in fish, such as salmon, and has been known to help the mind and body. Omega 3 can also be found in walnuts, fruits, vegetables, herring, sturgeon, mackerel and anchovies.

Omega 3 has been known to reduce health risks and promote life longevity. It can reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke as well as hypertension, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), depression, joint pain and a variety of other rheumatoid complications. Omega 3 is also able to improve the immune system and protect people from sickness, such as Alzheimer’s disease.

Scientists and researchers theorize that Omega 3 is able to help prevent the previously mentioned problems because it stimulates the production of bodily chemicals. Chemicals that control inflammation in the joints, the bloodstream and tissues are increased with the consumption of Omega 3.

Omega 3 can also combat against Omega 6. The fatty acid, Omega 6, is often found in eggs, poultry, baked goods, cereals, vegetable oils and margarine. While too much of Omega 6 isn’t good for the body, little amounts of it help with lowering cholesterol, improving skin health and improving blood clotting. If too much Omega 6 is consumed, our blood will become too “sticky” and clots form where they are not supposed to. Heart attacks and strokes can come from this. However, digesting Omega 3 will help balance out the Omega 6 components.

Recent studies have shown that a comfortable balance of Omega 3 and Omega 6 provide people with great health. Researchers say that a ratio of 4 parts Omega 3 and 1 part Omega 6 should provide the body with proper balance. However, the average American has been documented to have a ratio of 20 parts Omega 6 and only 1 part Omega 3. With such an imbalance, people start to suffer from heart problems and other serious conditions.

Omega 3 fatty acids are not composed of one single ingredient. EPA (eicosapentaenic acid) and DHA (docosahexanoic acid) are two primary ingredients, as well. EPA and DHA are available as dietary supplements but can be found in coldwater fish. The average recommendation for a healthy fish diet is for a person to have at least two servings of fish per week. Instead of sticking to one type of fish, experts suggest creating a wide variety.

Advantages of prepaid phones are numerous. Plans and minutes are known to cost much less than monthly billing policies. Users do not have to worry about making a strict payment every few weeks because, if they don’t have any money, they won’t be able to use the phone, versus building up debt. Prepaid phones don’t have early termination fees, plans and can be used by people under the age of 18. The device is popular among students, travelers and businesses.

There are some disadvantages to Pay-As-You-Go phones, though. For people who call and text often, the rates may be higher than sticking with a monthly unlimited plan. International and premium rate numbers cannot be dialed with these phones.

There have been some issues with security. Worldwide police and security agencies are concerned that users will commit criminal and terrorist activities. Prepaid phones sometimes allow the user to remain anonymous, therefore making it easier to create havoc. In an effort to lessen the likelihood of problems occurring, officials are suggesting that users need to register their prepaid mobile phones. However, many consumers are fighting the suggestion because they originally purchased the phone with anonymity intended. This is not necessarily because they are going to create the next biggest scandal, but because they want their privacy to remain intact. As of 2005, countries such as Australia, Germany, France, Japan, Hungary, Slovak Republic, Norway, Switzerland and South Africa have all required their Pay-As-You-Go users to register the phone.

There are many Prepaid cell phone providers in the United States. Companies include: Boost Mobile (Sprint), GoPhone (AT&T), Virgin Mobile USA, Cricket, Lucky Wireless (Verizon), TracFone, Pay and Talk (Telus Mobility), Pre-Paid Wireless (US Cellular) and Jump Mobile (Leap Wireless).

Each company has its own payment options and amounts. Some companies are strictly offering minute cards while others provide the option for monthly plans, as well. Europe and the Middle East have numerous Pay-As-You-Go mobile phone businesses, too.

Prepaid mobile phones come in a variety of styles and, more often than not, may be mistaken as one of the main stream models. Pay-As-You-Go devices can come with simple features to simply call a person or they can be equipped with the latest texting keyboard.

Popularly known as virtual hosting service or as derive host, a shared web hosting service is where many websites are all on one web server that is connected to the internet. Every site has its own partition, a place/section on the server, in order to keep it separate from others. Shared web hosting is considered an economically efficient option for hosting because several sites can share the cost of server maintenance.

Considering it is used by many different sites, the server requires system administration. For users who do not wish to bother with it, other people can maintain the server. Users who want to have more control may not find this option appropriate, however.

Shared hosting can be implemented in two ways: IP-based and name-based. IP-based virtual hosting, also known as dedicated IP hosting, offers each host their own personal IP address. There are many physical network interfaces on the same physical interface. Client IP addresses are used to figure out what website to display. The main advantage of IP-based virtual hosting is so clients can have their own SSL certificate, compared to a shared certificate. Name-based virtual hosting provides virtual hosts with several hostnames on one machine with one IP address. When web browsers want a resource from the web server via HTTP/1.1, it includes the hostname as part of the request. From this, the server processes the information and determines what website to show the user.

Shared web hosting has a web-based control panel system. cPanel, Plesk, Ensim, DirectAdmin, H-Sphere and InterWorx are a few examples of web-based control panel systems. Most large hosting companies use custom made control panels. However, many lawsuits have occurred from people try to recreate the functionality of well-known control panels.

Shared web hosting services have disadvantages, as well. These systems, for one, do not properly support secure websites (HTTPS). All name-based virtual hosts must share the same digital certificate. Second, if a Domain Name System is not functioning properly, it may be more difficult for people to use name-based virtually-hosted websites. Normally, a user could rely on their IP address to contact the system, but the web browser does not know what hostname to send to the server.

Shared web hosting services will not work with browsers that do not send hostnames as part of requests. However, since pretty much all web-browsers currently use HTTP/1.1 protocol and also virtual hosting, this should not be too much of a problem.

A passport is an official document that marks a person a legally recognized citizen. Better explained, a passport is a pass that lets you out of a port (a country in this case). Acquiring a passport is a very simple process though one needs to have a lot of documents supporting the validity and have to follow the procedure stated by the respective government. The procedure is almost the same for all countries except for certain added rules in some countries.

The general procedure to be followed for getting a passport is as follows:

The first and foremost thing a person is to have to be eligible for applying for passport is an official birth certificate. In case you don’t have one, find out how to order a one from the government.

The second important thing is a document supporting your identity. A driver’s license can suffice this requirement. If you are a student, a bonafide certificate from the institution you are studying would do. But it should be noted that this document of proof of citizenship should be legal and original documents are to be shown to the passport agent.

Once you are sure about the availability of these two documents with you, go ahead to get a passport application form. There are two ways to obtain this form:

You can download the form available online in the state government’s website and then fill all the necessary details and apply online. Make sure you do not sign the form unless it gets verified and approved by the passport agent.

However, if you are under sixteen years of age (for U.S citizens) or if you are applying passport for the first time, you have to apply in person.

After getting the form, fill all the necessary details correctly and ensure you have two passport size photographs or arrange for them.

Once you have the completely filled form along with the necessary documents (birth certificate and proof of citizenship and two passport size photographs), confirm with the passport agent and get the form verified and approved after which you and your agent have to sign the application form. The last step is to pay the fees. This amount varies with the government and also with the type of passport you are applying. Once the passport fee is paid and form submitted your application will be sent for processing and you are will likely get the passport within six months. If you need it urgently, it would cost you some extra money.

Manual driving is not the toughest of tasks as there are a number of drivers in other countries where manual transmission is the one which is available. There are a number of ways by which a person can learn to drive a stick shift and learning from self tutorials is one such way.

In order learn to drive a car it is very important for a person to more about it. Learn the basics about your car and how to use a gear and a clutch. It is also essential to know more about the second gear because this is work horse which can get you up or down any steep surface. Of all the gears which one can see in a stick shift reverse gear is something different and as the name suggests it takes you in the reverse. Once you have learnt about the gears its time you learnt how to use them or how to shift them.

Learn shifting when the car is stationary initially. Make sure you are well versed with the pattern and do not forget to push the clutch with your leg when you do this. Once you have mastered doing it perfectly you can go on to the next level which is starting the car. While shifting gears it is essential that you shift them fully and else you will be forced to hear an unpleasant noise.

Initially starting isn’t easy either and make sure if the car is in neutral before starting. Once you have started it you can proceed to drive with the help of the clutch and the gear system. Make the best of use the clutch and learn to use it effectively. Feel with your feet effectively to see where the clutch engages and disengages. If you proceed to change gears without using the clutch or with the clutch halfway, it can cause considerable wear and tear.

In order to be successful in driving a stick shift a person has to master it and this comes only with considerable practice. Once you have mastered this you can go on to have a smooth experience. Learning to shift the stick to accelerate is only half the job and one has to learn downshifting too, to complete master the process. Downshifting might be easy relatively but it only in those steep slopes things get difficult and you must be in a position to handle that as you might encounter a number of flyovers and bridges in your driving route. Practice is the key in learning to drive a stick shift.

The major reason which makes people hesitate to shift from place to another is because it is hectic. If one has to move, he is left with carrying all his belongings too and as you all know most of our belongings are too big and heavy to carry on our head with us. You are left with no other option but to ship your goods and believe me shipping can be one of the most stressful jobs. You are not left alone once you have packed your items for shipping, you are worried too. Though silly a number of queries keep running in through your head if your item is safe or not.

Things are the same with your brand new car too. If you were to ship it as soon as you bought it, I don’t think most of you out there would be comfortable with it. Even if your car was old things are going to be the same. So let us learn ship our car easily.

Go and choose the best shipping company which you have heard of and provide them with details about shipping your car to the exact location where you would need it back. It is better to check on the insurance coverage of the company in advance to avoid future problems. Read it carefully and keep a copy of it with you. On the date of moving your car stay with it, if you want it to be safe.

Generally the mover fills out a bill which reports the condition of the car before it was loaded. Check if there are any scratches or dents before signing the report. Do not sign it unless you agree with every point in that report. Learn about the type of payment in advance too because it may delay the delivery of your car. Some companies make sure that you pay them in advance at their office, so do as necessary.

Make sure you get all these in writing as words spoken can change any point of time. Also remove all your belongings from your car as they are not covered by the insurance policy. The biggest part of the process is to receive the car. Check if you have received it in the same condition like how it was before else you will have a hard time claiming once you have signed for it. At last you have moved your car with ease!

Do not be surprised if you come to know that bicycles are considered to be vehicles and there are definite set of traffic rules which have to be followed by them too. In many countries the same hand signals are meant for other vehicles too which do not have signal lights or other modern ways of indication.

Some of the commonly used bicycle hand signals are:

Left turn:

For a cyclist to turn to the left of the road this signal is used. The cyclist has to extend his left hand in the direction of the turn to signal to others that he is going to turn left. This symbol is common in most parts of the world.

Right turn:

There are a number of ways in which a right turn is signified. In most places of the world the right hand is extended in direction of the turn to signal a right turn. While in the United States and Canada another method of signaling is also adapted. One has to extend his arm out to the left, parallel with the forearm held upward in order to signal for the turn.

Stop:

Stopping is signified by a number of means in different countries. In the United Kingdom cyclists have to extend their right arm parallel to the road with their palm facing down and wave it slowly to communicate to others that he is slowing down.

In the United States and Canada one has to extend his left arm to the left and parallel to the road and angle the forearm vertically downward while in Italy, the right arm held vertically with the palm facing the front indicates the same.

In countries like Australia and Denmark one has to extend his right vertically with palm facing the front as it Italy or one can put his right arm parallel to the road and keep the forearm vertical with the palm at the front to signal slowing or stopping.

A number of signals are also used by cyclists but they are not very common is use. It is very important for a person to be aware of these common bicycle hand signals before riding a bicycle in a different place. The bicycle hand signals in a particular country can be better understood with visuals.

As the name suggests criminal jobs deal with areas related to criminal justice. There are a number of jobs related to criminal justice from handling the court system and dealing with it to law enforcement in the state. Since there are a wide variety of jobs there are a wide range of requirements too. The requirements for these jobs depend on the job itself and expertise in any of those fields can place an individual in a good position. Though the requirements for the jobs vary, the ultimate exposure needed is the same and that is to maintain and enforce the laws of the country.

Law enforcement jobs are the hottest attractions of the current job market. With a wide number of careers, a person is bound to find one of his interests in this area. Different types of jobs are available and people who are interested in medical science can also find an appropriate criminal justice job in any popular crime lab. Careers in forensics is also available and people get the chance to work on the DNA’s and evidences in most popular crime stories of their place. It is simply left to the individual’s talent on what he can offer in his criminal justice job. For example, an individual performing an autopsy and simply perform it or can go on and investigate the nature or the cause of the death.

With a career in criminal justice, a person also gets to work closely with people. Some of the criminal justice jobs where people get to work with people are in the case of court positions and as police officers. The nature of the job can be decided by the person who can go on and choose one depending upon his skill or depending upon his educational qualification. The educational qualification required also varies with jobs as some settle with a bachelor’s degree while other jobs ask for special certification. So, it is very important for a person to decide his career well in advance and take necessary steps to qualify for it.

A criminal justice job not only makes you to interact with different types of people but also makes you responsible of a number of activities. If you are a clerk in the court you get to interact with a number of people from court assistants to the criminals and you are extremely responsible of the court proceedings too.

Home owners’ association is simply an organization created to manage the development of homes. The developer is relieved of legal and financial responsibilities and the ownership is transferred to the homeowners from the association only of selling a certain number of lots which is predetermined. These home owner associations are incorporated together and are subject to the terms and or conditions which are used to govern nonprofit organizations. One can be well aware of the laws of the home owner associations but these laws change from one state to another and in fact some states do not have home owner association laws at all. Statistics show that Home owners association governs about 23 million homes in the United States of America.

Home owners association exercises a number of powers like a municipal government. These associations maintain and regulate the activities and the main difference between a home owner association and the municipal government is that home owners association is not subjected to any constitutional constraints. If not for these home owners association, the tasks and duties performed by it would fall on the local government which would be an additional burden. The other discretionary powers of a home owners association is that it can form committees and appoint officers to these committees.

Home owners association provides a number of benefits not only for the local government but also to the people in that area. These associations maintain harmony and enforce regulations. The cost incurred by these associations in any public cause activity such as insuring structures or landscaping areas shared by all is levied as assessments from members. Though many people feel that preferring home owners association can be misleading, yet advocates personally suggest people to go for home owners association. The biggest advantage which municipalities enjoy from home owners associations is that property taxes can be charged any amenities in the state which may not be the case if these were owned by the municipalities. Also the municipalities are exempted from the responsibility of maintaining these amenities.

In spite of so many advantages with home owners associations, members in these associations are subjected to financial risk as well. In a few states in America, these associations can go on to deprive the homes of members in order to collect assessments. This leaves the people at risk though this is not the same in all the states. In the other states judicial procedures are maintained by home owners association.

A travel doctor is someone who can help you with a travel. If you are of the idea that traveling only requires a passport and a visa and not the help of a doctor then you are completely wrong. For more than half of the countries you can travel to some level of vaccination or medication is needed. The most common vaccinations are rabies, tuberculosis, and H1N1. The most common medication is Malaria medication. Doctors are also needed for emergency cases but also to help during other occasions such as epidemics or other great diseases. In fact a travel doctor doesn’t have to be someone related to your health and he can also be a person who can advise you of better health and other environmental factors at the place of your visit.

There are a number of services and medical help agencies which advertise for travel doctors but what do these travel doctors originally do? They simply demonstrate you with some of the common diseases in the place of your visit, the precautions to avoid them, the causes and remedies to these diseases and how a person can get help in case he has been diagnosed with some particular disease from that country. Travel doctors also have a wide knowledge about the geographical conditions of a place and its medical history.

In the ancient days, people were mainly afraid to travel because most sailors who set out to unknown lands always landed upon some epidemic or some other disease which was mysterious in nature. Before the development of medical sciences most of these diseases led to death and people completely gave up on travel because of these factors. Without a doubt the best place to find a travel doctor is online. You should be able to find fees and get a convenient appointment.

Things have not changed completely and I was surprised when my next door friend who went on his dream trip returned with swine flu. Though he is fine now I was taken aback to see with such a strange disease. The main reason for him to be affected is because he did not take the help of a travel doctor and he went on his journey with no idea about the medical conditions of his destination. If he had consulted a travel doctor, he would’ve proceeded on his journey with a simple face mask which would’ve avoided the disaster completely.

Swine flu is one of the cases and there are a number of other cases as well. As we all know ‘prevention is better than cure’ and is better to protect us along with our family instead of having yourself at a hospital after the trip. This not only puts you in bed but affects the joy of the trip as well.

In the competitive world, discrimination has become more prevalent. There is discrimination everywhere and in every possible aspect. Ageism is one kind of discrimination. Classifying a person based on his/her age and meting out treatments accordingly is called age discrimination or more simply, ageism. This is subjective and hence takes a more casual form but there is also some conventional methods of ageism.

Generally, this is of two kinds. (1) One form of ageism is based on prejudice. This involves stereotyping of people that is, failing to analyze the person and grouping them based on their age. This is usually negative. (2) Another form of ageism is discriminating people that is depriving them of opportunities because of their age. While some tend to do this for the safety and the good of the person, some tend to be highly crude.

There are many forms of ageism. People are usually categorized into three kinds: Infants or children, Adults, or Old.

Here are some common examples of ageism one could easily relate to. Jobs are usually denied for aged people. While some eye experience as an asset, others have a prejudice that aged people can’t work effectively. This can more technically be coined as jeunisim in which young and attractive people are given more preference against elderly people irrespective of their potential. Another most common form of ageism is adultism which is biased against adults or youths. One cannot vote unless he/she is eighteen and eligibility of age for appearing for some government examinations are forms of this.

While most of the forms of ageism tend to be negative and harsh, one form of ageism which is soft but unfair is treating older people in a very friendly way but holding them unfit for a purpose. In this, the older people are looked upon with pity and are treated with respect but d opportunities are denied for them. This is called “benevolent prejudice”. The exact opposite of this case is the one in which preferential treatment is meted out to the old given their need for comfort. One common form of this everyone could identify is the concession in railway fares for senior citizens.

Ageism leads to many effects, usually negative. The most affected are people with high potential but lack of age who are denied opportunities. This leads to financial problems for them. Also the stereotyping of older people gives them a mental sick feeling.

The term ‘Avatar’ can signify a number of things, but the most common and the most popular of them is the computer avatars which we use in our day to day life. It can simply be called as a representation of a user in a computer or a network. Avatars can either be three dimensionally simulated models and a simple two dimensional picture which one can use in his profile. Overall, it can be called as an object or an abstract representation of the user.

It would be funny to trace back the origin of this term and its usage with respect to the virtual world. Avatar means incarnation and is basically a Sanskrit word. It is used to represent a person in the virtual world but the origin was not from the internet. Avatars were first used in computer games since 1985 as a representation of the user playing the game.

The first usage of avatars started in internet forums where people rarely use their name nowadays. Though avatars are widely used now, its first usage has not yet been traced till now. The main reason behind this is that the initial internet forums did not support this feature and it was only those geeks and technical savvies that brought the usage of avatars into internet forums. In fact these went a long way to hack their profile in order to do these changes.

In the beginning these avatars were simply texts or images but right now there are different forms of avatars for a person to choose from. Animated avatars were the next to come and they had a few images in a sequence which played in a loop. As more and more people started using these, a number of creative ideas were put into creating them. Right now a person can go on and cartoon himself or make a 3D animated avatar of him. Technology is constantly on its heels.

These avatars are also used in Internet chat and instant messaging programs. It was Cybertown which brought in the technology of three dimensional avatars to the internet. As the popularity of these avatars keep growing people not only want them to be better designed but they also want these avatars everywhere. They want it on blog comments too. If you were a popular blogger, you would support this cause talent always deserves an identity and nothing can be better than an avatar.

Octane rating is the measure of how resistant is gasoline and other fuels in the combustion engines to automatic ignition. It the measure of a fuel’s burning characteristics.

Octane rating can be determined by measuring the octane number of a fuel. It is measured as follows. The anti-knocking capacity of the fuel under test is determined first. A mixture of iso-octane and heptane with the same anti-knocking capacity and the percentage of iso-octane in the mixture gives the octane number of the fuel.

Fuels with higher octane ratings tend to have higher activation energies meaning that it takes a long time for auto-ignition to take place. When fuels with lower octane rating are used, the efficiency and the power output of the engine decreases. When fuels with higher octane rating are used, higher compression can be achieved; however the power output of an engine depends on the energy density of the fuel contained in it.

Octane rating is specified in octane numbers. There are different standards followed in different countries. However the most common method of octane rating is specifying the Research Octane Number (RON). This is determined by comparison of the performance of a fuel and the mixture of iso-octane and heptane. Though hydrogen has better anti-knocking capabilities and reduces the knock of a fuel by its high thermal conductivity, it is not used as a standard. Iso-octane is used as the standard for determining octane numbers. Other types of octane rating are Motor Octane Number and Anti-Knock Index (ANI). Motor Octane Number is a measure of the tendency of the fuel’s burning characteristics under loaded conditions while Anti-Knock Index is the average of Research Octane Number and Motor Octane Number. The Motor Octane Number of heptane is 0 and that of iso-octane is 100 and thus a good fuel can have a Research Octane Number as high as hundred. Motor Octane Number can be ten points lower than that of a Research Octane Number.

Octane number of a gas can also be put into simple words for better understanding. A gas octane is the value beyond which the compression of a fuel or a gas automatically ignites it. This is different for different gases and hence it is one of the important factors evaluating the performance of any gas. The properties of these gases are artificially changed with changes brought about in these values.

Medical billing is a career field which involves the collection of payment for medical services which have been rendered. The people with these jobs submit bills and collect the payments from the insurance companies on behalf of the doctors. This saves the doctor a lot of time and effort that can be better spent on caring for patients. The medical billing employees have the sole purpose of interacting with the insurance companies who cover their patients. They submit the bill to the insurance company on your behalf, instead of sending you the bill and making you request payment from your insurance provider. These medical billing professionals are the middle men in the world of medicine when it comes to money changing hands.

This process is a little tricky and will really bring out the negative aspects of the medical care arena and the insurance companies. Insurance companies will not pay when there is not a diagnosis made by a doctor. This is extremely detrimental to the patient, especially in areas like psychiatry. If a person sees a psychiatrist, that person is going to have a mental health diagnosis, because if they don’t get one, the doctor will not get paid by the insurance. The person will then forever be labeled with a mental illness.

Some adjustments need to be made in the medical field so that this type of thing does not occur. There needs to be reform to all areas of the process, so that people involved in the medical professions, insurance, or medical billing are helping the patients instead of hindering them with unvalidated diagnosis.

Medical billing as a profession however, has taken great strides with the advancements in technology and is no longer completely paper based. Medical billers are now using the internet and have access to specialized software which allows them to be able to be far more efficient at their jobs. Medical billers need to be constantly educated and trained, because there are changes occurring all the time in the medical insurance arena. There is even now a certification for expertise in medical billing, allowing an individual in the field to become a Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist. These individuals need to know all of the various forms, which could change from one day to the next. They also need to be aware of the various insurance companies and the plans that they offer. In addition to that, they need to be completely familiar with health care covered by the government for any individual.

Medical billing professionals are also bound by Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) which governs the privacy and confidentiality in all areas of health care. These professionals are not allowed to discuss your bill with anyone other than your insurance company and yourself, because that would violate the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act’s regulations. By discussing your bill, they would be acknowledging that you were in fact receiving treatment for one thing or another and would therefore be violating your privacy.

In the United States, estate tax is a tax on the “taxable estate” of a decreased person. Estate tax is also known as inheritance tax. The starting point in calculation the estate tax is the “gross estate”. The gross estate is considered the value of all property interests of the descendent at the time of death. Many different interests are included in the gross estate, as well as life insurance benefits.

Once the gross estate is determined, the law provides “deductions” at the value of the taxable estate. Funeral expenses, administration expenses, claims against the estate, charitable contributions and items left to the surviving spouse are potential deductions. The most important of the deductions is when property is passed on to the surviving spouse. This is because it can eliminate any federal estate tax for a married decedent. The unlimited deductions does not apply to the surviving spouse if they are not a United States citizen.

If you’re not interested in paying the estate taxes, there are many insurance companies that have developed networks of life insurance agents who work with tax avoidance. Law firms, brokerage and financial planning firms also work to form techniques for estate tax avoidance.

One estate tax avoidance technique is to combine tax exemption limits through a will or a living trust. Other techniques don’t necessarily avoid estate tax. Instead, they provide an efficient and leveraged means to have liquidity to pay the tax at the time of death. Those who own businesses, own real estate or stocks are advised to seek professional advice. If professional advice is not used, the owners may have the risk of the estate tax imposing on the heirs to sell items at undesired times.

As of 2009, heirs are free of federal taxes if the amount left is $3.5 million and under. In previous years, the amount was $2 million. However, for every dollar over the $3.5 million limit, the government will take 45 cents. While current law calls for repeal of the federal estate tax in 2010, it isn’t necessarily likely to happen. More likely than not, the $3.5 million exemption will become permanent. Investing in the exemption and relatively simple strategies will, in most cases, help prevent federal estate taxes.

In order to avoid estate tax on life insurance, you can set up an irrevocable life insurance trust to own the policies on your life. Be careful, though. If you transfer an existing policy to a life insurance trust, it’ll take three years for it to become separate of your estate.

If you’re fairly certain of a decease date, you can gift up to $13,000 per year to an heir without owing any federal gift tax. If married, the current tax-free limit is $26,000 if you and your spouse make joint gifts. If the money goes toward an educational institution for tuition or to a medical service provider for uninsured expenses, there is an unlimited amount that can be gifted.

With the state of the economy today, more and more people are finding themselves without jobs. The news keeps telling us that the unemployment benefit claims are dropping, but this is likely to mean that many people have benefits which are expiring. Companies have been going under at alarming rates for over a year, and the ones that are not going under have been forced to try and find ways to stay afloat. This for most means that they need to tighten their belts. Part of this is that they need to let some employees go, or at minimum, they need to reduce hours of their employees. These companies are not trying to harm their employees or their livelihoods, but they need to be able to keep the company alive and have no other choice.

When a person loses their job, their first thought is probably about how they are going to survive. Unemployment benefits are created to help you with that survival while you are in search of another job. The key phrase there is that you need to be looking for another job. The first thing you need to know when you are seeking unemployment benefits is that you can’t get unemployment benefits if you quit your job. You have to have been laid off and have a letter from your employer to show that this is the case.

If you have been laid off, or if your hours have been reduced by your employer, you are likely to be eligible for unemployment benefits. You should apply right away, because it takes a little time for the benefits to be in effect. Also, you won’t get any unemployment benefits for time that you were unemployed before you filed with the unemployment benefits office.

When you go to the office to file your claim for unemployment benefits, you will need a few things. First of all, you are going to need to have your social security number, so that there is a record that you are actually the person who received your benefits. You will need to provide them with your mailing address, so they can mail you any necessary documents or checks. They will ask you for a phone number at which you can be reached, and they will ask you for a recent paystub. Finally, they will likely require that you give them the names of you employers for at least the past year.

An alimony payment is a common expense for many divorced Americans. There are more than a few people who are paying alimony to multiple ex-spouses, and while some payments may be limited to a short term (the time between separation and the final divorce decree, for example), it is more or less, a permanent condition.

Divorce laws, and therefore alimony payments, vary widely by state in terms of duration and qualification, but there are some generalities that can be made. First of all, the length of the marriage is taken into account; ten years is fairly standard in most states as an acceptable time frame, and some states include the time spent separated before the divorce as being part of the marriage term. The income (and potential future earnings) of both parties are considered, and normally, the spouse with the highest income (regardless of sex) will be the one paying alimony. (This is based on the assumption that the one with the least income will need support to maintain the same standard of living as in the marriage.) And, if the party who has been ordered to make the alimony payment remarries, his or her new spouse’s income may then, in some states, will be used to determine the amount of alimony to be paid to the ex-spouse. Additionally, in most states, permanent alimony payments cease if the receiving spouse remarries.

The concept of alimony dates back to the days when a woman not only had no other source of income but had to sign over any property she inherited to her husband. He maintained total control over the dispensation of funds, and therefore, if he divorced her, she was left homeless and penniless. Since divorce was only possible under the direst of circumstances (spousal abuse or infidelity), it was argued that, if the husband was at fault, he should continue to support his wife who would still be his wife had he not been guilty. Conversely, if the wife happened to be the transgressor, she was not entitled to alimony because, again, she would still be his wife had she not been at fault.

No-fault divorce laws brought sweeping changes to alimony payments in many states. For example, Texas limits payments to a maximum of three years and only if certain criteria are met, while the same set of circumstances could lead to lifetime payments in the state of Massachusetts.

There are four basic types of alimony payments. Temporary alimony is paid during the time between separation and a final divorce decree. Rehabilitative alimony is paid to a spouse for a designated time period to enable the spouse to acquire the education or training to become self-supporting, and is often ordered where the wife spent her marriage days in her home without ever holding an outside job. Reimbursement alimony is awarded in cases where one spouse has incurred major expenses on behalf of the other, such as putting a spouse through medical school or financing a business for him or her. And permanent alimony, as the name implies, is a lifetime decree that ends only upon the death of one of the principals or if the recipient remarries.

The IRS 1040 form is used by American taxpayers to report personal income and claim deductions for federal income tax purposes. There are three versions of the 1040: The long form, known simply as the 1040; the short form 1040A; and the 1040EZ.

The 1040 is the form that must be used if deductions are itemized, although it can also be used if taking the standard deduction. The form is two pages long; the first page consists of personal information such as name and address, filing status (married, single, etc.) and information of dependents. It then moves to income information. Salary and wages are totaled and entered, as well as income from interest or alimony and business income or loss and capital gains activity.

Next, the IRS 1040 form asks for adjustments to gross income, such as educational or moving expenses. You will then list your deductions, and claim credit for taxes withheld from your salary during the year. After determining the tax due from the tax table, tax is subtracted from the payments made and any remaining balance can either be refunded or can be applied to your next year’s taxes.

There are eleven supporting schedules that have to be attached to the IRS 1040 form, depending on each individual’s situation. Schedule A is used for itemizing deductions, schedule B records interest or dividend income, and schedule C covers income and expenses for those who are self-employed. Capital gains activity is recorded on schedule D while schedule E is used for rental or royalty income. The schedule EIC is completed to claim the earned income credit, schedule F reports farming income and expenses, schedule H is used if the taxpayer employs household help, and schedule J must be attached if farm income is averaged over more than one year. Schedule R calculates credit for the elderly or disabled, and schedule SE is used to compute the self-employment tax due for those who are self-employed.

The variations of the IRS 1040 form are used when claiming the standard deduction rather than itemizing. The most abbreviated form is the 1040EZ. Filers who are single or filing a joint return with their spouses, under age 65, have no dependents, and an adjusted income of $100,000 or less may be able to use this form. The only tax credit that can be claimed is the earned income credit, and there won’t be any advance EIC payments made during the year.

Those not qualifying for the 1040EZ may be able to use the 1040A instead. Like the IRS 1040 form, the 1040A allows income from salaries, interests, capital gains, and pensions. And like the form 1040EZ, it is limited to those earning less than $100,000. No itemized deductions are allowed; the standard deduction must be claimed.

The IRS 1040 form is available online from many sources, including the official IRS site. Downloadable as a .PDF file, the form can be printed blank and filled in by hand, or information can be entered prior to printing.

Juvenile onset diabetes, also known as Type I diabetes, is normally diagnosed in childhood or adolescence. However, it can begin at any age.

Diabetes is a condition for which there is no cure—only treatment. It occurs when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin to maintain proper blood sugar levels. Insulin is needed for the body to take glucose (sugar) from the bloodstream and store it in cells. Without it, the glucose remains in the bloodstream, where the body is unable to tap it for energy. Diabetes can cause the pancreas to completely stop producing insulin.

Before juvenile onset diabetes is diagnosed, some patients will experience no symptoms whatsoever. Many, though, report some or all of the following: being perpetually tired, feelings of excessive hunger or thirst, frequent urination, even at night, unexplained weight loss, blurred vision, or numbness or tingling in the feet. If the blood sugar levels are extremely high, symptoms may include rapid respiration, dry mouth, nausea or vomiting, or flushing of the face. They may also have a distinct fruit smell to their breath.

Juvenile onset diabetes is normally diagnosed through one of a variety of blood glucose tests. Some types require fasting for a period (usually 12 hours) before the test, while some are performed at various periods of the day. A physician may also order a ketone test; ketones are the by-product produced when the body is burning fat or muscle. A urinalysis is performed and the ketone levels are measured.

Complications from juvenile onset diabetes are common, and much medical attention is directed to the prevention of complications. These may include vision loss, renal failure, and nerve damage, particularly in the feet and legs.

Patients with Type I diabetes must learn to give themselves insulin injections, and should be conscientious about checking their glucose levels. Naturally, in the case of a child, the parent or caregiver will be required to handle, but by the time the patient reaches his or her teens, responsibility is usually shifted from the parent to the patient. With proper medical care and experience, they learn how to make adjustments in insulin doses when they are sick or involved in strenuous exercise. There are several different types of insulin, each with its own signature as to how quickly it begins to take effect and how long that effect will last.

People with juvenile onset diabetes may need an injection three or four times a day. The injections only need to penetrate the skin as opposed to entering a muscle or blood vein. A new, sterile needle should be used for each injection. Some patients may be able to utilize an insulin pump, instead.

Diet is also an important part of the treatment plan. Meals should be eaten around the same time each day, and should consist of the same types of food. The main factors in determining the proper diet for diabetics is the carbohydrate and protein count of the food rather than calories or food group.

Advances in the health care field have made it possible to control the symptoms of juvenile onset diabetes, and while there is still no cure for the condition, complications can be minimized, enabling the patient to live a full, normal life.

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification is a process by which a building is granted status as a “green” building, or one which utilizes resources in an eco-friendly manner. The process is voluntary, and estimates are that by 2010 at least 10 percent of all new construction will be “green”.

Since 1998, more than 14,000 buildings worldwide have been certified. To receive the designation, each must achieve a certain number of points in six areas: Sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, indoor environment, and innovation and design. Buildings with 40-49 points are categorized as “Certified”. “Silver” ratings are achieved with 50-59 points and “Gold” with 60-79. To be granted a “Platinum” rating, a building must garner at least 80 points.

In the category of sustainable sites, LEED certification depends upon evaluation of such factors as site selection, site development (protecting habitat, maximizing open space) alternative transportation (accessibility to public transportation, bicycle storage, parking capacity, and low-emission vehicles), storm water design, and light pollution, among others. A maximum of 26 points can be earned in this category, and as a prerequisite, the site must prevent pollution during construction.

Under the heading of water efficiency, the prerequisite involves a reduction of water use. The building is then rated for efficient use of water in landscaping, continued water use reduction, and wastewater technology. There are 10 points available for this category.

Energy and atmosphere offers 35 possible points toward LEED certification. Prerequisites include minimizing energy performance and refrigerant control. Points are awarded based on several benchmarks, including optimal energy efficiency, the use of onsite renewable energy, monitoring and tracking usage, and “green” power usage such as wind or solar power.

Materials and resources allow the project to earn up to 14 points. The storage/collection of recyclable materials is the prerequisite, and then points are given for building reuse (maintaining existing walls, roof, etc.), construction waste control, materials reuse, and for using recycled, regional or materials that are quick to renew.

In the category of indoor environmental quality, LEED certification requires the building to meet two prerequisites: Minimum indoor air quality, and the control of tobacco smoke. It is then evaluated for monitoring outside air delivery, enhanced ventilation, and low-fume materials (glues, paints, flooring systems, wood products). In addition, such factors as temperature comfort, daylight, and views are also rated. The maximum points that can be earned in this category are 15.

Finally, innovation in design carries 6 possible points, with credit being given for design and additional credit, if the designer is LEED accredited. Future measurements will include a building’s carbon footprint and emission of greenhouse gases, which will evaluate consumption of fossil fuels and refrigerant leaks.

For a building to receive LEED certification, an application must be submitted showing which requirements have been met. There are also fees involved for registration and certification, and application can be made online. Separate criteria are used for LEED certification in categories other than new commercial construction. These include retail (new and renovated), homes, and schools. There are also categories for neighborhood development, commercial interior renovation, and existing buildings.
