What are iPod Apps?

ipod appsApps, an abbreviation for applications, are services for iPhones and iPods.  The system was created by Apple Inc in July 2008.  Users are able to browse and download applications from the iTunes Store and use them on their Apple devices.  Some apps are free while others cost a tiny fee.  As of November 2009, 100,000 applications have become available and over 2 billion people have downloaded an app.

Applications have a rating applied to it.  Green (4+) apps contain no objectionable material.  Yellow (9+) apps might have fantasy, cartoon or realistic violence and suggestive humor.  Orange (12+) apps may have mild language, violence, suggestive themes and simulated gambling scenarios.  Red (17+) applications contain intense humor, horror, suggestive themes, sexual acts, nudity, tobacco, alcohol and drugs.  Consumers need to verify they are of 17 years of age before being able to purchase the higher rating apps.

To date, one of the most popular apps on the market is the Slacker Radio.  The application boasts that it holds more music than Pandora and offers Premium accounts.  The app offers unlimited song skips, as well.

Hey, Where Are You is another popular application.  It is a simple app that allows the user to take advantage of the Push Notification and let the user answer and ask “Hey, where are you?”

Probably the best application for massive texting is TextFree Unlimited.  It is the first app that offers text messaging using Push Notification.  It helps lower SMS (Short Message Service) costs.

For Twitter goers, TweetDeck is a useful app.  Favored by most tweeters, this application possesses the same layout as the desktop counterpart with multiple columns and separation of user groups.

The Flight Tracker application proves useful for individuals who travel often.  For businessmen/women, the app allows the user to view flights in real-time and receive up to the minute departure and arrival times.

Best buddies will feel grateful for the Birthday Reminder application.  This app downloads information off pages like Facebook to the iPhone/iPod to easily remind people of upcoming birthdays.

For on-the-go readers, the Kindle app will help greatly.  The application is basically the Kindle itself, just on the iPhone/iPod.  The eBook reader is kind to the eyes and provides quick entertainment.  There is plenty of variety offered for cheap prices.

People know how it can be boring to sit around when you really want to play a game.  Therefore, iPhone/iPod owners are able to download the Assassin’s Creed application.  The game runs rather smoothly and entertains very well.
